Dolphins' Streak Ends in CIF Quarterfinals: Dana Hills Girls Tennis Reflects on Strong Season

The 2023-2024 girls tennis season has had a really successful regular season. The Dana Hills girls tennis team found extreme success in CIF, making it to the quarterfinals. In that quarterfinal match, the Dolphins traveled away to face Culver City High School.

On Monday, Nov. 6, in a close match, the Dolphins came up short losing 10-8 sets. Starting varsity player junior Anusha Misra comments, “It was a sad bus ride home because it was such a close game.” Culver City had the slight edge in the fact that their singles were all seniors and all the players starting singles for Dana being freshmen and potentially having less experience than the seniors.

However, they found success getting into the quarterfinals, dominating in the first round against Upland on Wednesday, Nov. 1. Our Dolphins won 15-3.

The Dolphins also found no struggle taking down Ayala High School in the second round on Friday, Nov. 3. The Dolphins ended that game winning 13-5. It was the first time in about 5 years that the Dolphins made it to the quarterfinals.

Misra also stated that winning these games “increased the overall morale of the team making them confident enough to make it to the quarterfinals.” Although losing in the quarterfinals, the girls ended up going 9-0 in League and have developed memories to hold onto and have gained experience in how to approach these close games.

The girls overall had a very strong and dominant season. When next season rolls around, these talented Dolphins will be ready for another successful season.
