Dana Hills Girls Volleyball: A Season of Triumphs and Lessons in CIF Quarterfinals

After a highly successful regular season, the Dana Hills girls volleyball team found success in CIF, making it to the quarterfinals.

In that quarterfinal match, our Dolphins faced Canyon High School. In a very close match, our Dolphins fell to Canyon 3 sets to 2. Starting libero junior Savannah Curtis mentions, “They have a very rowdy crowd. In the first set, we definitely did not start off strong. After we got a hang of the noise, we started playing a lot better, but we couldn't finish.”

However, there were two impressive victories to bring them to the quarterfinals. In round one of the CIF playoffs, our Lady Dolphins dominated Cypress High School winning in a sweep 3-0. Curtis mentions again, “CIF had been a big goal for us, so when we realized that we made it the team came in really strong. We all just knew what we had to do, and we got our jobs done.” This was the first playoff win they had since 2018.

This victory against Cypress sent Dana into the second round where they faced Redlands High School. “We started off really strong then we kind of let up a little bit in the third and the fourth. Then in the fifth, we realized we had to step up and keep pushing in order to win.” In the end, Dana Hills defeated Redlands in a hard-fought match 3-2. Even though our girl's team fell short of a championship, they still accomplished a lot with achievements in the regular season and in CIF.

Team captain senior Reese Weinhart comments, “I thought we had a great season and the support from the girls is what made everything good. Our team connection was the best yet that I've experienced. Our coaching was great and all of that was what led to our success this season."
