Dana Hills Dolphins Clinch Historic First Outright League Title

Dana Hills Dolphins made history winning their first outright league title in the school's 50-year history.

Going 3-0 in league play and 8-2 overall, the Dolphins secured the 16th seed in Division 6 of the CIF-SS football playoffs. The Dolphins continued their historic season, as this was the first time the Dolphins had secured a playoff spot three years in a row.

Following league play, the Dolphins were a projected number 1 seed in the Division 7 playoff bracket. After a few upsets in the Division 1 and 2 levels, playoff brackets were completely thrown off. This created a domino effect, bumping Dana up a whole division, and into the 16 seed. Disappointed in the outcome, the dolphins geared up for a battle against a tough Ontario Christian team

Despite the Dolphins' hard-fought efforts, they could not make their way past Ontario Christian as the Dolphins' win streak was broken with a final score of 45-13.

On Friday, Oct. 27, the Dolphins geared up for a tight battle against the Northwood Timberwolves. Going into the game, the Dolphins knew that they had the potential to make history. The Dolphins’ had but one league title in school history, a 3-way tie for 1st place back in 2012.

Through the first half, the Timberwolves and the Dolphins held a tight battle. The score during halftime was 21-21. After that, it became a blowout as Dana ended the game victorious with a final score of 42-21.

On Oct. 20, Dana Hills traveled up to Irvine to face the Portola High School Bulldogs. The game turned out to be a huge blowout for the Dolphins as they were easily swept by the Bulldogs with a final score of 52-14. This win secured the Dolphins clinching a share of a league title before facing their final regular season opponent.sp
