At the beginning of the 2023-2024 school year, history teachers
were relocated around campus due to the tearing down of the old history
portables. The school plans on replacing the portables with a new and
updated building. Because of the upcoming construction, the portables
and its surrounding areas are now completely blocked off from students
for safety reasons. This blockage has also displaced some teacher
parking into the lot by the softball fields. The temporary relocation of
history classes is just a temporary inconvenience that will soon lead
to a great improvement on campus. Well-known history teacher Mr. Hulse
believes that it is finally time that Dana got an upgrade, considering
that most other local high schools have all gotten upgrades. Hulse
recalls his portable room as “literally falling apart with a Hobbit
living in the walls.” While Hulse will definitely miss his wall-Hobbit,
he is very excited about the new building and can’t wait for what the
future holds in his new room. Another popular history teacher Mrs.
Lovett feels hopeful and optimistic about the new building. Although she
is excited for the finished product, she also believes it will take a
long time to complete, claiming that “it will definitely take three
years or more.” Additionally, Lovett found moving everything out of her
old portable to be challenging, especially to settle in a temporary room
in the math department. Despite finding the whole relocation process to
be a pain, at the end of the day, she is hopeful for the new building
at Dana Hills. Ms. Wallace, who teaches history as well, also found
moving to be challenging, especially since she misses the regular
routines at the old location. Wallace does not mind the parking
inconvenience, but she does miss the convenient Stonehill access.
Wallace is very optimistic about the future, as she is already starting
to recreate old memories and routines from the previous location and
cannot wait for the new building to be put in at Dana Hills. Ultimately,
students and faculty anxiously await the arrival of the new building. A
slight inconvenience involving relocation paves the way for an
innovated and updated future here
