This year's ASU (Associated Student Union) president is Sofie Miller. Sofie has been in leadership since middle school and has worked her way up the ladder. She has been an important team member of cross country for all four years. Along with her commitment to running, she is also vice president of the Interact Club and is on the board for Stand Up to Trash. Sofie loves to bake in her free time and often hikes with her friends. She is a person who strives by building connections with each and every student in the student body. Her main goal for this year is to get all of ASU on the same page, working to the best of their abilities so that they can reflect positivity onto the student body. Sofie is a very bubbly person and loves talking to each student at Dana, and often says, “My goal is to meet every student so please come say hello if I'm in the halls”. You may hear her on the morning announcements every day with one of her extremely humorous jokes. Sofie is this year's Girl state representative; she was selected as the Dana Hills delegate. As such, she was surrounded by people that are like minded but also completely different from her. It made her extremely excited for college, and we are so happy for her. She has been a part of ASU for 4 years now and plans on furthering her academic career in college, her dream school is UCLA and Vanderbuilt. She plans on becoming a high school English teacher because she has always looked up to hers. Sofie said that, “if I did some type of leadership experience in high school I would get the most out of my experience” over the last 4 years she climbed the ladder to see where her skills best fit. This year she said her goal is to “increase communication in ASU, and to make ASU a better organization because it will translate to the rest of the school”. Her favorite part of being the president is watching how peoples actions can positively affect others. She gets her motivation from her friends and family and she says that, “when I'm bored I am not happy so I like to fill my plate as much as I can. '' She is most looking forward to homecoming because of how fun it is, and says that, “all the stress and planning that is put into it really pays off because of the outcome. A fun fact about sofie is that she had four dogs, loves coffee, and her favorite color is yellow. She is an avid birkenstock lover, and no one knows this but she was actually born in Mayland and moved here in elementary school. As senior year continues she is looking forward to seeing where people's future goes. She said, “if you ever see me in the halls i will probably tell you a corny joke.”
