Club Rush: Where Students Showcase Interest

On Sep. 15, our school hosted the annual club rush out on the science quad. The blacktop was filled with fold up tables covered in artistic and informational pop-ups on the various clubs. Junior Tess Halbert, one of the founders of the Global Minded Women Club, commented that “aside from social media promotion, the posters play a key role in advertising for our clubs” and in addition to the informational component, Halbert added that “they are a fun project that bonds club officials along with really conveying the fun aspects of our club.” Club rush is an essential event to advertise for all the important and creative clubs here at Dana, and also provides a fun activity for students to take part in. Senior Paige Scheer, an attendee of this year’s club rush, “loved the atmosphere and community centered around participation in extracurricular activities.” The amount of tables filled with various clubs spanned almost from the Spanish portable to the courtyard outside science quad and Mall was a remarkable sight, and there was an impressive amount of clubs attending this event. Additionally, the entire outside area was filled to the brim with students all looking to join and educate themselves on all the clubs here. The interests of these clubs span from computer science, to marine safety awareness, and a new addition this year, line dancing. Our school is filled with so many unique and amazing individuals with equally important hobbies, and club rush is a true representation of the variety and commitment to enrichment here at Dana. Although these clubs mainly utilize club rush as means to recruit members and advertise themselves, the search still continues beyond Sep. 15. Senior Kayli Wallin of the chess club has “recruited students in multiple of her classes and tutorials who were seen playing chess.”
