Wrestling Takes the Stage at League Finals

As the Wrestling 2022-2023 season came to an end, our wrestling team, girls and boys competed at League Finals. This gave Varsity the opportunity to qualify for CIF, a high level competition, which 8 of them did. Nelson, a sophomore varsity wrestler placed 4th in his bracket, qualifying for CIF. Nelson explains, “ I am really proud of how our Varsity team did during League Finals. As a whole our team did really well, and a lot of our guys placed for CIF. But I hope to do better along with my team next year”. League was hosted by El Toro High school, and multiple schools came. Luckily, the dolphin’s had all of their coaches to support them. With 8 wrestlers qualifying for CIF, the stakes get higher for them and so does training. Bobby Baeder, a sophomore Varsity wrestler also qualified for CIF on saturday. Bobby says “I think overall as a team we did really well, I was really happy with my semi-final win against the 32nd ranked kid which got me ranked top 60s”. Our team has done great, and improved after each duel and tournament, which helped prepare them for League Finals. Their Coaches, Mr Abedi, Mr. Ritter, and Mr. Cruz played the biggest part in preparing them. They have been awesome coaches and pushed the wrestling team farther than anyone could have thought. Now, 8 of our Varsity boys prepare for CIF, which will take place at Capo Valley High school.
