Girls Golf has a Fantastic Season!

Girls golf has been crushing it this season. With great individual and team scores, they have proven that they are a force to be reckoned with on the green. After an amazing league season, the varsity team is advancing to CIF and is in high hopes of coming home first.

The team is composed of many terrific players. Sophia Wahlstrom, a sophomore who has been on varsity since her freshman year, believes that the team “played some of our best rounds this year and it motivated everyone to keep going forward.” In her most recent match, senior Avery Sky had to “battle through a tough sickness and was able to power through” for a strong second in League Individuals. Many players were also an inspiration to others on the team. According to Wahlstrom, “The team really improved with the help of our teammate Avery Sky and everyone tried their best.” Senior Zoie Fuentes feels that “The player that stood out to me the most is Leighton Hill. She was really fun to play with and even when she had a bad day she still made the best of it and had fun and the best attitude.”

The team was top notch during their league games. Sydnie Duvall, a senior on the team, said that “Our team performed really well throughout the season, with just one loss.” This stellar performance led the team to win the league title, and Duvall believes that “working together to be league champions led us to bond more as a team.” After winning the league title, the prospect of winning CIF is big in the girls’ minds. Avery sky, like many others on the team, “believes this team has everything it needs for the win.” The girls will need to work hard for this, and Sophia Wahlstrom thinks that “we could work on our mental game. Focusing on not getting too stressed when it came to a bad hole and instead focusing on how to improve from it.”

Overall this season has been great for the team. Junior Janie believes that she “played a lot better than I did last year and got a lot more opportunities this year to show off my potential”. Zoie Fuentes feels “pretty good about this season. I’ve had a couple ups and downs with the matches but overall I think I did good.”
